Michael and David Haddad
Road to Recovery
When medical ailments are complicated or serious, Medstar’s Road to Recovery program gives patients extra guidance and support through their difficulties. Our volunteers and professional staff live up to SBH’s founding mission of caring for friends and family in their hours of need. They listen, advise, follow up and keep in touch so that no patient must face and cope with stressful situations alone. Medstar assists with hospital transfers, food provisions, navigating the complex waters of health insurance and can even accompany patients to the doctor. Private meetings are arranged for further support, and our comprehensive guidebook is given to learn more about how to be a well-informed patient, what types of questions to ask the doctor, and how to prepare for possible surgeries and hospital stays that may lie ahead. In all, an important relationship is formed between patients and Medstar to ensure that their road to recovery is a smooth one.

Health Alert

Promoting good health and educating the community about important and relevant health issues have been a main mission at Medstar. Every year, we provide free wellness seminars by well-noted physicians, CPR workshops and our life-saving annual health screenings, testing in glaucoma, skin cancer, mammography, hearing, cardiac and prostate cancer.

Hospital Relations Program
Medstar is proud of our close relationships with the best hospitals across the tristate. We have taken a leadership role in representing the entire community to all major hospitals who share our mission of recovery through sincerity and compassion. The Medstar name is well-known by the best hospitals in the world because of our professionalism in all our endeavors towards community health care. In cooperation with the Sephardic Hospital Fund, we meet with hospital presidents and administrators to forge a personal relationship built on camaraderie and shared values. Our mutual respect allows us the humble opportunity to count so many great hospitals amongst our closest friends.

MedstarMedical.org
At MedstarMedical.org, you can find a wealth of information for the Jewish patient who may be traveling or staying overnight away from home. The website extensively covers the New York, New Jersey and Florida areas, but also contains information on dozens of cities around the world, such as Milan, Hong Kong, Rio de Janeiro, Panama City, Montreal and much more. At our website, you can find a list – organized by location – of all major hospitals and contacts, as well as hotels, kosher restaurants and synagogues nearby. Locally, there is also contact information for rabbinical and patient representatives at each hospital. Global travelers have access to local Hatzalah phone numbers, Chabad centers, US embassies, and 24-hour pharmacies.
