Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) will be an integral part of the executive management team and lead the overall fiscal planning and oversight of this large, complex, social services not-for-profit. The CFO will report to the Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) and work in collaboration with the CEO, Treasurer, Board of Directors and the senior management team to ensure the integrity of the financials and systems within SBH.
The CFO is responsible for and oversees budget development, all financial management, and compliance surrounding SBH grants. S/he will manage the financial department. Working closely with the CEO and the Treasurer, the CFO must be strategic in assessing business risks and opportunities while ensuring that there is an ample amount of cash flow coverage.
The CFO will be a strong communicator with the ability to liaise with a variety of funders, government representatives, staff, bankers, and vendors, as well as develop strong relationships internally with the executive team and the program directors.

Special Requirements

  • Significant experience as a CFO, Global Controller, or Director of Finance in a large and highly complex organization and/or social service organization.
  • High level of competence and professional stature to advise CEO and Board Committees on effective financial management.
  • Experience and/or knowledge with NetSuite.
  • Experience in a supervisory role managing multiple staff and fostering a culture of transparency and teamwork.
  • A demonstrated ability to think strategically in seeing opportunities, assessing risks, streamlining systems, and reducing expenses.
  • Experience managing organizations funded by multiple government contracts, preferably through New York City and New York State agencies.
  • Highly effective in oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and the ability to lead the implementation of a new system throughout the organization.
  • Ability to gain the trust of others and foster collaborative relationships.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in accounting, nonprofit management or CPA preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the development and implementation of Centralized Intake and Referrals. Responsibilities include assessing and onboarding new clients, coordinating clients’ receipt of services through multiple divisions and providing relevant referrals for clients’ needs, and case management as needed.

(SBH Career Division) This person will interview job seekers of all levels and review the client’s experience, training, and personality to make career-related decisions and inform them of their realistic career options. The Specialist will gather all pertinent professional data for the purpose of facilitating their job search. The Intake Specialists’ responsibility is to ready the client for their Job Search by identifying the resources & necessary steps to ensure a successful result.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Develop, implement and oversee mental health events/programs within community schools
  • Responsible for coordinating and/or providing innovative community wide mental health programs including lectures and workshops

  • Use clinical and case management skills to provide guidance and short-term counseling to clients in need of support

Duties and Responsibilities

(SBH Counseling Center)

The Director will oversee the implementation of a large multi year government grant project in close collaboration with partnering agencies. This is an initiative to integrate physical and behavioral health, provide a range of person-centered clinical services, and utilize data driven measurements to ensure client well-being and outcomes. The Director ensures the completion of the project deliverables and goals. The Director is responsible for convening teams and work groups as appropriate and will also monitor services to ensure quality and fidelity to the grant model.

The Director leads and oversees all aspects of the grant start-up and program development including daily operations, project deliverables, required reports, administering and monitoring the project budget. The Director develops policies, procedures, workflows and clinical processes that align with the project vision of an integrated collaborative care health system. Provides oversite of key personnel; recruits new positions for the grant. Collaborative inter agency team, supervision and Trainings provided.

Special Requirements

Qualification for position: Master’s Degree or equivalent in a mental health discipline. 3 – 5 years of administrative and supervisory experience preferred. Experience with grants a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities

(SBH Counseling Center) The Epidemiologist will assist with and review Community Needs Assessment design, proposed survey instruments and results.

(SBH Counseling Center) Will design and conduct a Community Needs Assessment (CNA) and ensure compliance and highest quality of care via utilization reviews and risk assessment.

Duties and Responsibilities

(SBH Counseling Center) Peer Specialists are individuals in recovery, or family members, who are uniquely able to neutralize the power differential and promote recovery by sharing their real-life experiences with peers. This position will work within a comprehensive treatment model that includes direct services, referrals and case management of mental health and substance use.

(SBH Counseling Center) Data Manager on a day-to-day basis will be responsible for timely and accurate data entry into SPARS and ACHIEVE portals; data analysis and reporting.

Data and Tech Specialist

SBH is currently seeking a data and tech specialist to spearhead and monitor a new initiative at SBH to consolidate the capturing of data in one common system.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess the data needs and current data through collaboration with relevant staff.
  • Design and institute data-capture methods that solve the data. challenges and optimize the experience for SBH divisions with a focus on Senior Division.
  • Provide training to users new and existing in a manner that empowers even the less tech savvy to track data with ease.
  • Provide technical assistance to users of all data systems as well as IT support.
  • Extract and analyze data on clients, programs, and services for billing reconciliation/optimization, reporting, improved system usage, and strategic planning purposes.
  • Empower program staff to run their own useful reports, building a sense of ownership and buy-in.
  • Take the lead on other projects designed to meet the data, technology, and strategic planning needs of SBH.
  • Track and manage grants data and correspondence.

Social Work Therapist

(Counseling Center) Our counseling center is looking for a full or part time psychotherapist for individual collateral and family sessions.

  • Must have a license or limited permit in the state of NY (MSW, LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, MHC, LMFT, MFT, LCAT)
  • Organizational, communication, documentation, assessment and writing skills needed for electronic record keeping
  • Must adhere strictly to issues of confidentiality
  • Maintain an active caseload of clients to provide weekly individual, family and collateral sessions
  • Some experience in evidence based model is a plus (excellent training and supervision provided)
  • Two evenings or one Sunday and one evening is required

Social Work Supervisor

(Counseling Center) Our counseling center is looking for a part service social work supervisor to work within the mental health clinic.

  • Two years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  •  A current LCSW license as an LCSW in the State of New York

Position Summary

The Manhattan/Young Adult Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for promoting awareness of SBH’s mission
through the engagement of volunteers in Manhattan and Brooklyn. The Manhattan/Young Adult Volunteer
Coordinator will be responsible for volunteer recruitment, volunteer management, and creation of new
volunteer opportunities and programs.

Position Type:

Part-time / 20 hours per week

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the recruiting, screening, interviewing and training of new Manhattan/Young Adult volunteers
  • Develop, promote, and maintain a steady volunteer base in Manhattan/Brooklyn
  • Design and implement year-round schedule of volunteer programs and events in Manhattan/Brooklyn
  • Communicate frequently with Manhattan/Young Adult volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and
  • Strategically publicize Manhattan/Young Adult Volunteer opportunities in order to fill requests/engage
  • Cultivate and promote skilled and committed Manhattan/Young Adult volunteers to leadership roles
  • Engage Manhattan children and young adults in SBH programming
  • Develop partnerships with our community schools and other community organizations in Manhattan
  • Create programming and events based on Manhattan/Young Adult community needs
  • Attend weekly staff meetings in our Brooklyn offices and assist in the evaluation of the program
  • Attend all Manhattan/Young Adult events and programs; develop a relationship with the
    Manhattan/Young Adult volunteers
